I have ...Thanks for the positive comments guys! :)

I have spent almost the last 4 months building and designing terrain. So as I go through my posts on terrain and deployment etc will show what I have been able to do.

Cheers. :)Zenoshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16779330339192574804noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6638616785966104829.post-83048347707512611472010-06-25T02:07:51.182+01:002010-06-25T02:07:51.182+01:00I commend you on a truly fine article. Way too man...I commend you on a truly fine article. Way too many gamers 40k or otherwise forget the value of terrain.

The problem made worse by most tournament organizers and the pathetic tables the force onto gamers during events.

It causes a ripple effect, falsely making players perceive that less than 25% terrain is ok and/or normal.

I rarely play with less than 30% table coverage of real terrain. (craters, barricades and low walls don't count as real terrain in my book, even on a city table)This makes my games much more tactical and fun.

Let me tell you Mech ain't king on a heavy forest or jungle table! Nids and horde Orks can easily rule under the leafy canopy.

-Jim

Oh I will be ordering some stuff from TerranScapes, thanks for the link!Big Jimhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10363832056474538807noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6638616785966104829.post-89296794491136716912010-06-25T01:00:35.942+01:002010-06-25T01:00:35.942+01:00Excellent article! Thoroughly enjoyed it - personally I spend little time contemplating terrain, I really should try to do better.TheKing Elessarhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04981821487098781957noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6638616785966104829.post-20473129277061937212010-06-24T18:49:30.661+01:002010-06-24T18:49:30.661+01:00Agreed on the Pegasus stuff. Even if you just slap together some quick foam hills and base up a few trees, that's a hell of a lot better than using books and boxes and whatnot.Dethtronhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07257162715130436403noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6638616785966104829.post-29752887387478487882010-06-24T17:49:01.659+01:002010-06-24T17:49:01.659+01:00I'm a bit of a terrain snob, but it works out ...I'm a bit of a terrain snob, but it works out since I like making the stuff. I can field full tables of cityfight, jungle, wasteland, and an ork settlement. I have a few tyranid pieces but not enough for the whole themed board.

The Pegasus stuff looks great, especially when you combine it with some flooring and rubble.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6638616785966104829.post-57386225652858766132010-06-24T15:10:09.442+01:002010-06-24T15:10:09.442+01:00When I joined my group of friends playing 40K in 2...When I joined my group of friends playing 40K in 2007, I was amazed at the lack of terrain they played on, and they all wondered why the Space marine player with the massive devastator gunline and las/plas squads blew through them.

I showed them that they need 25% terrain and they instantly were able to actually compete. Now we have a myriad of ruins, blastscapes, bunkers, and crashed ships. I even own a Fortress of Redemption to go with my DA Successors. We're a little short on hills and forests, but proper terrain definitely makes this game much more enjoyable. You're also showcasing some awesome stuff to get people started. Two thumbs up from me :)Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
