Interlude: Dark Angels (for Ray?)

Some of my readers may remember my friend Ray who had such trouble with the Blood Angel lists he wanted to run as Night Lords.  Well, he drifted out of the game for a few months, and is looking an 'in'.

Naturally, I would like to help...and so he asked me to fix him up with some Dark Angel lists (which aren't mine, though I DID have a hand in their creation)...Unfortunately, he since decided he doesn't really want to play MEQs, which is an issue because, as you know, there are only 2 'good' Xenos - Nids and DE.  He doesn't want a massively converted army, so no Nids really...and he doesn't 'fit' with DE.

Don't know how to solve this conundrum yet.

In the meantime, here are the two relevant DA lists, such as they are.  Feedback appreciated, as these lists haven't been tested.  They were only even thought up as we were trying to work out the cheapest possible armies...

1500 POINTS:

[Personally, I'm unsure about the Termies, but they're solid-ish for holding an objective, and at least they score in this list.  Plenty of Melta, and mostly disposable.]

both are nice lists and would be fun to play i think dude. As for another armies to use what about imperial guard they cant use diffrent lists and could be good.

Sammael in the landspeeder is the better choice in either list because he is more survivable. After, many, many games using the jetbike version, which is cool, the landspeeder is the choice.

Now, in the 1500 point list... if you drop one, just one attack squad, it gives you the points for two predators with heavy bolter sponsons.

I don't know if you want to stray from the fluff/theme but adding those two tanks will really help out your resilience.

In the 1750 list...

I got that it has termies but unless you just play a striaght death wing, which is tough at this point level, your termies are going to get picked out often and early.

I'd really go for a complete Ravenwing in the 1750 list with additional squadrons with flamers instead of the two melta guns and perhaps a third speeder. Juggle the squadrons around until you find a mix of melta/flamer units you like.

This is just all off the top of my head from playing very similiar lists for quite awhile.

If you want anything else I'll check back over the weekend and post something.

Captain K - I thought so too about Sammy, thing being that with only 2 other Speeders he becomes much more obvious as a target. Personally, I would like another 2 or 3 Speeders, in a way...if they were Troops ones.

The 1500 list, much more so than the other, is really looking to go all-Outflank a fair amount of the time. That's why the Predators were decided against. That and, again, this army is doable with 3 battleforces, and a couple Attack Bikes.

Contributions appreciated though, as the army isn't for me, any suggestions are great because Ray may take them up.

Let me suggest this then...

At 1500 points I would take a couple of flamers instead of melta to bring it closer to an 'all comers list'.

If outflanking is what you want to do at 1500 points then do them all. I've actually tried a few outflanking and a few on the table. You can try it to verify my results but they tend to be so 'in your face' that they are wiped out as a priority.

You have to have them all in your enemies face so your opponent has to choose who he shoots.

Hiding Sammael in the speeder is easy too if you outflank with everything but him. The speeder version is also immune to low strength weapons. You gotta use the big-guns on him.

At 1750 I would just add attack squadrons with flamers instead of the termies and keep the Ravenwing theme. The termies, unless in large numbers for DA's, just get picked out for execution and don't have the resilience of a ten man termie unit or an all Deathwing force.
