New Eldar Army list

Thinking on the issue of my Fields of Blood list (http://www.heresy-online.net/forums/showthread.php?t=36584#post4111666 - Skip to page 6) I wondered if having 15 Dragons was REALLY necessary. Obviously, against some lists, yes, but the extra anti-Infantry I could try and squeeze in might be equally fun. So, the result:

HQ:

Yriel;
Pointy Stick, Pie Plate O' Doom, Forceshield, Plasma Grenades. - 155

ELITES:

7 Fire Dragons;
Exarch: Dragon's Breath Flamer, Wave Serpent [Shuriken Cannons] - 224

7 Fire Dragons;

TROOPS

5 Dire Avengers;
Avenger Shuriken Catapult. Wave Serpent [Brightlance] - 195

5 Dire Avengers;
Avenger Shuriken Catapult. Wave Serpent [Brightlance] - 195

5 Dire Avengers;
Avenger Shuriken Catapult. Wave Serpent [Brightlance] - 195

10 Storm Guardians;
Shuriken Pistol, CCW, 2 Flamers. Wave Serpent [Scatter Laser] - 211

HEAVY SUPPORT:

Fire Prism:
Prism Cannon - 115

Fire Prism:
Prism Cannon - 115

Fire Prism:
Prism Cannon - 115

TOTAL: 1744

Still 9 Grav Tanks@1750...also considering 8 Warp Spiders, or 6 Jetbikes + EmboldenLock ...any suggestions welcomed.

Good ol' Yriel. The Thermo-Nuke of Doom (..and then Mr. Corpse, most of the time...)

The Avenger squads are a bit small, and I don't think much of their chances to survive getting shot out of the transport. Then again, they're one of nine grav tanks, so....

The anti-tank feels a little light. Three lances and two Fire Dragon squads is not a lot.

Anti-infantry is a bit reliant on the Fire Prisms, and it gives the enemy some tough choices: nuke the fire dragons, or worry about the Prisms. I don't necessarily rely on their small blasts to pop vehicles, but it's more an issue of their size.

The one thing I keep coming back to is just feeling like the Dire Avengers are too light. Camping the guardians on an objective gives you more bodies, but wastes your non-dragon flamers.

Overall, I think it's got potential.

If I were going to do anything, though, I think I'd drop a Fire Prism to find points for another lance on, say, the Guardian's Wave Serpent and then spread some underslung shuriken cannons around to beef up your lighter anti-tank and your tank's anti-infantry capability.

Out of your two suggestions, I think I'd aim towards the Spiders. I'm not as much of a fan of them as you are, I think, but it would augment your anti-infantry capability and even give you a little bit of semi-decent AT punch in a pinch.

Pssht, too many duplicates, it's boring :P
But yeah, looks like a solid list, if a little points wasteful on the BL on Serpents.

I'd say take a Farseer for those Guardians, with Doom on their opponent, they can do a surprisingly large amount of damage; and definitely give them a Warlock with Enhance.

No Farseers. Ulthwe army or no, this isn't a fluff army, it's competitive. :P

The Guardians are far more likely to find themselves thrust into the enemy's face than on an objective. With no significant ranged fire, they need to be up close and personal. Obviously, I'm not going to throw them away...but I kind of am. Using them as a speedbump, they can still do significant damage to hordes, and takes fire away from the Grav-Tanks - they're really more to help me table Orks than anything else.

Spiders may well work better though. They keep the mobility, although I go down to only 8 Grav Tanks :(

Dropping a Prism is interesting, but when t-l they have a decent shot at even AV14 (marginally better odds than a Lance, thank you very much AP1) - so even though it's a horrible points sink to do so, I wouldn't hesitate against, say, Kharn and some Zerks. I'll think about it.

As ever, thanks for suggestion guys. :)

I like it, very similar to the lists I run, as you know :)
My biggest concern is the lack of Spirit Stones on the Serpents, they are still transports after all, surely getting their payload to its destination when recieving a shaken/stunned role is pretty crucial?

I used to think so, and, don't get me wrong, I still rate the item highly, but...it's 1/6.

Even on a Glance, it's still just 1/6.

When those make the difference between Lances and ShuriCan on the Serpent Turrets, it's a hard call.

I'm not 100% happy with them out...but I the best lists I play are fully Mech, and I need to be Lancing. Especially when they will not stop with a Shaken result as the total damage on a Serp, regardless of why they got it.

Perhaps it's more my metagame. :)

Okay... I don't know how 3x Lances and 2x Dragons isn't enough anti-tank... I think you're fine there. Plus the Prisms can play if things really need it.

I also disagree with the idea that a Farseer isn't competitive. They can be a huge force multiplier when used correctly.

For this list I'd:
1. Drop a DA Serpent.
2. Up a Prism to a HoloFalcon w EML & Spirit Stones.
3. Stick the now-foot DA in there.
4. Add a Destructor Warlock to the Guardians.
5. Consider Crack Shot for the Dragons.
6. Drop the Scatter Laser from the Guardian Serpent.
7. Get the Dragon Serpents Spirit Stones. I agree that they don't need to be on everything, but they are a solid investment for a squad like that where range is critical.

They can indeed be competitive - I said that in jest. Al;though, in this list, Farseers add very little. Doom is always good, Storm and (of course) Mind War I rate, but they're unable to be shot out of a Serpent. Yriel adds CC power (as do the Stormies) that was lacking in previous incarnations of the tri-Prism list.

Fortune is excellent, though, but Guide is sub-par in a list where most things are already twin-linked, or can be by themselves.

What would you replace the Scatter with, Lance?
