Fields of Blood 2010 preparation.

Okay, important stuff:

  • 40k Doubles, using WHW Doubles pack slightly modified.
  • 2k total, 1k each.  No points sharing.  :(
  • In order to take an Elites/FA/HS beyond the first, a 2nd Troops is required (aka 1/1/1 per Troops choice)
  • Min FOC requirements are 1 HQ, 1 Troop.
  • Unknown atm if Vulkan carries over - but indications so far are that 0-1 restrictions are per player, not team, if Battle Brothers (eg, same Codex)
  • Tourny held on 26/27 June, so a fair wee bit of time to be 3 colours +...hence no Eldar.   Anyway, Eldar can't ally with SM in these dumbass rules.  (Nids and Necrons can only ally with themselves though...so it could be worse.)

Okay, my ally's army is liable to be:

MotF - 120
Conversion Beamer.

5 Scouts - 150
ML, Cloaks, Telion.

Tac Squad - 205
Rhino, MM, Fl.

Dread - 105
MM

Dread - 105
MM

Predator - 85
AC/HB.

Predator - 85
AC/HB.

2 Land Speeders - 140
HF/MM.

While mine is currently shaping up as:

Libby - 140
Termy, SS, Null Zone, Vortex.

5 Scouts - 150
ML, Cloaks, Telion.

Tac Squad - 205
Rhino, MM, Fl.

Dread - 125
Rifleman

Dread - 125
Rifleman

2 Speeders - 140
MM/HF

...115 left.  Ideas?  2 Attack Bikes doesn't really suit, but I'm struggling for better to fill such a small void.
Obvs a Pred takes a fair chunk out of it, but then the symmetry is broken.

can't you get 10 points from somewhere and get a 3rd rifleman? that seems to be the best choice in my eyes. Not sure what you can remove though. maybe one tac marine, wouldn't make that big a difference.

The issue there is that removing one Tac also removes the Flamer and MM - making them a rather ineffective unit. :(

Options for drops include:
The Libby's SS.
The Libby's TA.
The Camo Cloaks...but this makes them a much softer target. :(

I'm open even to complete rewrites if that's what you feel improves the list - any suggestions will get equal time. :)

Oh, and that's a 3rd Elites choice. Makes it illegal. :(

Give the tacticals a power fist and give yourself a land speeder with rockets (can't remember the name, the one for 90 points in total) to zip around the riflemen and generally produce mayhem.

A Typhoon?
I could do that, but that increases the threat level of one Tac squad, making the enemy's target priority easier.

:(

Better than nothing...

Unsure what your rules are so to speak... but 115 points screams Calidus to me... moving something into the open for Telion to take out in the opening turn.

No Inquisitor though. :(

Plus, while I don't think the current Tourny pack prevents use of Allies, last year's event did...and I would not be surprised, as this is an official GW event, and god forbid a Codex failing to stand on it's own merit. They're all equal, you know!

I sense your dark desire TKE to actually field an swooping hawk squad in your next game.

LOL....

115 points.... then, If your going to be objective based... Why not give the scouts more men, to be on the safe side for scoring units and to enusre enough shots are leveled at whatever is coming your way.

Typhoons are always handy. For the last few points, tack on a combi-melta for the Tactical Squad and melta bombs.

What say you to dropping the SS on the Libby (yeah, I'm so cool I don't need a gun...) and picking up a Vindicator instead. Siege Shield + Using as def unit + swapping ally's MotF for an identikit Libby = win?
