Really Quick Shooty Blood Angels...

I haven't decided what the BA list I will be building for myself as a permanent fixture in my army cycle is going to be yet...and this idea came to me, half-formed, this evening...so time to type it up and see how it's figuring.  Get some feedback, too.

 TROOPS:

5 Assault Marines:
Meltagun, Razorback [Las/Plas] - 165

5 Assault Marines:
Meltagun, Razorback [Las/Plas] - 165

5 Assault Marines:
Meltagun, Razorback [Las/Plas] - 165

5 Assault Marines:
Meltagun, Razorback [Las/Plas] - 165

Do I want Flamers instead?  I thought Meltas because they aren't expensive, and great in a pinch, but open to changing it.

HEAVY SUPPORT:

10 Devastators:
4 Missile Launchers, Razorback [Heavy Flamer] - 265

10 Devastators:
4 Missile Launchers, Razorback [Heavy Flamer] - 265

10 Devastators:
4 Missile Launchers, Razorback [Heavy Flamer] - 265

That takes me to a spent total of (265x3) + (165x4) = 795 + 660 = 1455.  Not terrible.  Let's continue.  We need an HQ...

HQ:

Librarian:
Shield, Sword - 100

Too good to ignore, really.  Infernus Pistol and Melta Bombs both worth considering...I'll come back to it.  Not sure, also, if I may need another Libby for better Shield coverage.

Okay, since this is 2k, let's expand three RAS to use the Razors properly...

+5 Assault Marines;
Flamer, Hand Flamer - 105

We take three of those, and put those in L/P'Backs.  The Melta contingents go into the FlamerBacks.  Duality, even if mediocre.  Also, it gives me an effective 7 Scoring Units.  Now, we have spent 415 more than before, so it's tight.  That's 1870, and we NEED a Sang Priest for the firebase of Devs.

Sanguinary Priest: - 50

That leaves us with 80 points to spend, and precious few options.  We have 12 Missiles/turn, at 6 Targets, and 4 Lascannon at 4 more.  We have 3 FlamerBacks for when they get close, and a handful of Meltas as reserve.  We have no anti-Scout defence, so let's settle for that...

Scout Squad:
Sniper Rifles/Boltguns/CCWs... - 75

Not sure what weaponry, needs testing.  Probably Snipers for some light extra anti-MC duty.  Nids.  They change the way you play.  lol

Thoughts? Anyone run anything like this?

I like it but I think it needs some tweaking. Not sure if splitting the Devs is needed? Dropping them to normal squad sizes and getting rid of the Scouts opens up points for some Baals or more RBacks with ASM or potentially Honor Guard. Could then add power weapons for lol kicks.

I tend to agree with Kirbs.

Dropping back to 4x5 Devs saves points, I would lose the scouts too.

I would change the razorbacks around: Melta RAS get flamerbacks, Flamer RAS get LasPlas, as do the Dev's.
This way we can pretend at duality.

Do you have points then for a hammer? SangGuard / HG?

TKE, bro, don't you have 8 Troop choices in this list?
4x MeltaPlasBacks
3x FlamerPlasBacks
1xScouts?

6 is the limit surely...

Otherwise, looks attractive ;)

Drop one to Hon Guard with Melta/Flamer to get real duality at a bargain price?

My bad, wasn't clear enough. The last three RAS (where it's +5 guys) are being added to previous units, then Combat Squadded to *basically* be 8 Troops.

Not splitting Devs an idea...and, Fester, that's what I said to do. (With switching 'Backs about) Lol

ah, I get it now...clearly being slow this morning prior to coffee intake...

Could you do more with the 15 'bullet catcher' Devs? Bare Baal and two MM Bikes (seperate) to zoom about and casue distraction, flitting between Razor hulls...?

I think that the list looks good... until you play against Land Raider spam. 4 spread out melta guns (that you have to get out the transport to actually use) aren't a solution to them at all. 4 Las Cannons might do something. But they *really* might not. Not something to count on, in any case.

So, like people are suggesting, take the extra 15 'extra wound' devs off, since they don't really add a whole lot to the list anyways. Then... buy as many MM attack bikes as possible. They have the right range to properly threaten Land Raiders, and can help with other things pretty well in general.

Just a sidenote: speeders might look attractive, but what you really need is durable anti-armor. Use the extra points you could be spending on speeders and get an extra Attack Bike :)

Otherwise, the list looks scary. Lots of firepower, and lots of units to have to deal with who all pose a reasonable threat. MSU at its best!
