So, Competition Winner.

Same deal as before. Here I post the lists, you vote on the right, someone goes home disappointed, the other happy.

Entrant One:

Total Roster Cost: 1500

Hope you don't have any vehicles...my max strength is 3.

Like the Soul Seeker Ammo on the guys with no guns? All kinds of awesome there...

Spamming Webway Portals is obviously win, as are the 'do nothing' Gruesome Talismans.

T3, S3, LD8, 5+ save, unarmed squad leaders and characters--what's not to love?

Two troops and yet I've still got 11 kill points to give up.

Ah, yes. The sweet taste of fail.

I gotta go with the Dark Eldar.

Tau spent a lotta points on gear and made the suits totally useless, but the DE army simply CANNOT, under ANY circumstances, harm vehicles.

The Tau can at least shoot up the lighter ones, or grenade them, or have Crisis Suits punch them out. (Hey, S5 against AV10 rears is...something?

But, but.
The Tau have no guns!

I have a few corrections to make to the DE list actually.

First of all, there is NO WAY for the Sybarites to not have a gun.
In the armoury it says you may GIVE them 2 1-handed weapons or bla bla, and in their rules it says IN ADDITION TO their normal stuff.
No matter what you give them, they always either have a Splinter rifle or Splinter pistol.

Also I consider taking defunct items such as the Gruesome Talisman to be cheating in a way.
It makes little difference in this list (20 points total), but if it were a significant amount I'd definitely object.
The fact that it does -nothing- means it's effectively been removed from the codex.

And let's talk about the two lists' use in combat.

2 out of 3 missions are objective based, and only infantry can capture objectives.
The DE list definitely has more anti-infantry firepower.
Even though the Tau can kill transports, it won't do them much good if the guys inside don't die.

Almost all the models in the DE list have guns, guns which can shoot 2 shots per turn.
The only guns in the Tau list are Pulse Carbines, which can only shoot 1 per turn, although yes it's a better shot they still have significantly less volume of fire and BS3.

In melee the Tau still fail to the DE, the DE have good WS and I, whereas the Tau have terrible for both, even though the (rather tough) suits have S5, they're still worthless in melee.

In KP games the DE give 11 KP, whereas the Tau only give 7.
While yes, that's a fair bit more, the DE still have a greater chance of killing infantry.
The Tau can claim KP from vehicles, but it's rather unlikely.

The fact that DE can't hurt vehicles is significant, but not enough to make them the winner in my opinion. That's all they have going for them.
Any army that can hide ALL Infantry inside a vehicle would still steamroll the Tau; as soon a transport dies, the unit that did it gets shot to pieces.

Against a balanced army, the Tau would lose by a greater margin than the DE, simply because they don't have enough killing power to win.
Whereas the DE army does have the anti-infantry firepower to get a few KP or stop the enemy capturing objectives.

Way not to reveal who's list it is.

I didn't, where did I say anything about who made the lists?
I was just discussing how I weighed the two lists against each other.
