**********INCOMING MESSAGE**********
I, Epistolary Kelios, shall be taking the Raptors 3rd Company to the contested planet of Q-Con XIX in the hopes of vanquishing the Emperor's enemies and winning honour and renown for the Chapter upon the fields of battle. With the disposition and identity of the enemy unknown, Captain Orelius has suggested the following forces, from the 3rd and 6th companies present on Taros, are available immediately, or I can request different forces from the chapter armoury. What say you brothers? Is this force worthy of delivering the Emperor's Judgement upon the xenos and the heretic?

This thread on Heresy: http://www.heresy-online.net/forums/showthread.php?t=108949&page=4 I got into a debate about Paladins, and specifically how bollocks they are.
I don't need to get back into the reasoning all over again, it's there in the thread. There are certainly a few things I missed, but this article is about living up to the challenge I set and presenting three 1500-point lists that would give that GK army fits, and obviously there's no point in tailoring the,. Apart from the fact that tailoring your list is cheating and I'm no cheat, any fool can tailor a list and write it to defeat a specific, pre-known opponent...for instance if I wrote a list of Orks with 45 Tankbustas, in order to take advantage of the lack of vehicles and simply missile-rape the Purifiers.

Well, there's a couple things I've been falling behind on, mostly due to work - so I'd really like to clear at least a few of them out today, get myself back down to a reasonable workload.
As a result, sadly, this means the post will undoubtedly be scatty and somewhat unfocused. On the bright side, you should kinda expect that by now. :p
Obviously, Live Blogging is MUCH more fun with other participants, so I'm going to begin in approximately 90 minutes - that gives me time to finish the last mission of Kill Team (Xbox, ofc, not the shitty table-top version) and grab a quick bite to eat, as well as to collect my thoughts and try to make this as efficient as possible.
See you then?

Firstly, apologies to Chris from For The Throne for my tardiness. Being, as I was, on holiday at the time, it get pushed back down my list of priorities (ok, right off it) and I only just realised I never bothered to reply when cleaning out my closet. :(
As a result, let's get on and discuss our pointy-eared friends (the 'good' variety) with respect to his choice (and the existing Codex, not the homebrew a-cooking around these parts.)

For those of you who don't follow me on Twitter (@TheKingElessar, and why the hell not??) this will be new, but I spent a good 10 mins or so yesterday writing a Blood Angel Drop Pod list, because for some unknown reason the idea came into my head, and I figured being late for work was well worth scratching that itch.

Last night, as I mentioned via my Twitter account (see link just below the banner, above) I wrote a nice new Tau army list that I'd very much like to give a few spins.
Without further ado, here it is, shorn of Plasma Rifles, and filled with Corpses-In-Waiting instead.

It has a reasonable amount of shooting (for Orks) albeit the Troops feel very ineffectual. Possibly don't need 2 Meks, and 14 Lootas unnecessary when 13 does the same job...sorta.
Feedback appreciated!

Haven't even been reading any other blogs for a while now, so what's going down? Warseer still full of arrogant idiotic pricks passing themselves off as competent players? Kirby still adding authors? Brent still pleasing anyone with a prefrontal cortex, but irritating the Great Unwashed? (Has a phrase ever more aptly described the type of gamer we dislike? lol) Stelek still pissing off...well...everyone? :p

REPLY: Well, let's start with the solid. Those Tac squads aren't perfect, because Multi-melta guys are better than MLs, no question. All the same, could be much much worse, I sometimes still see people put Heavy Bolters in Tac Squads, and that is virtually inexcusable.
Telion and Snipers is great stuff too.
I assume the Predators are Dakka variety, which is fantastic (well, for its points) and the AoBR Dreads are neato too.
So, let's start with these elements:
Telion, 3 Snipers, 1 ML Scout - 135
Tac Squad: ML, Flamer, Rhino - 205
Tac Squad: ML, Flamer, Rhino - 205
Dreadnought: Multi-Melta - 105
Dreadnought: Multi-Melta - 105
Predator: Heavy Bolters - 85
Predator: Heavy Bolters - 85
So far we've spent 925 points, and have a pretty solid core. We still need an HQ, of course, and we need a bit more anti-tank. Ideally, we would add Land Speeders. Sadly, this doesn't really seem to be an option. :( Since Q-Con is next weekend, the chances of you actually getting them built etc in time are incredibly slim. My next choice would actually be Riflemen Dreads, and a MotF to allow you to take two of them...but again, modelling-wise, that seems too tall an order. :(
I assume the AST have TH/SS, not Lightning Claws. I hope so, anyway. lol
With that in mind, I suppose the options come down to:
Land Speeder: MM, HF - 70
Attack Bike: MM - 50
5 Sternguard: Combi-Meltas, Drop Pod - 185
And we still need an HQ... :/ Well, with having spent 1230, we have 270, more than we could possibly spend! In that case, the best HQ to take is the MotF with Conversion Beamer to camp with the Scouts. If that isn't possible, then take a Terminator and call him a Librarian, give him Null Zone, Vortex, and a Storm Shield. Have him with the Scouts, because no-one will advance towards them as confidently. He costs 140 points...so if we drop a Tac Squad (205) we can take two 5-man ones with Las/Plas Razors. ;)
That makes the list:
Librarian: Null Zone, Vortex of Doom, Storm Shield, TDA - 140
Sternguard: 5 Combi-Meltas, Drop Pod - 185
Dreadnought: Multi-Melta - 105
Dreadnought: Multi-Melta - 105
Tactical Squad: Missile Launcher, Flamer, Rhino - 205Tactical Squad: Razorback [Las/Plas] - 165
Tactical Squad: Razorback [Las/Plas] - 165
Scout Squad: Telion, 3 Snipers, Missile Launcher - 135Land Speeder: Multi-Melta, Heavy Flamer - 70
Attack Bike: Multi-Melta - 50
Predator: Heavy Bolters - 85
Predator: Heavy Bolters - 85
TOTAL: 1495
Swish, no? Could ofc be better, but working with limited resources. :p
Will return to yours later Chris, better to just get it posted, no? :)

Missile Spam, Codex Creep, and False Comparisons; Part One - Who gets most toys?
Posted by
TheKing Elessar

First, let's define Codex Creep.
Codex Creep (noun)
A process by which successive releases of Codexes (40k) or Army Books (WFB) released by Games Workshop invalidate, through enhanced power level, not only their direct predecessor (ie, namesake) but by extension other similar Codexes - as defined by fluff, affiliation, playstyle, art design, or even sometimes just by the loose connection of being in the same game system (ie, the 'Most P0werful Book Eva'.) A good example would be a new version of Codex: Space Marines, which is inherently superior to Codex: Space Wolves, Codex: Black Templars, Codex: Dark Angels, Codex: Blood Angels, Codex: Chaos Space Marines and Codex: Grey Knights (admittedly a recent addition to the list proper...)
This new book would need to present most if not all of the unit and build options in the others, whilst being cheaper/better/more synergistic - and overall objectively more powerful. Typically found in 2nd and 3rd Edition 40k to a limited extent, or 5e, 6e and 7e Warhammer Fantasy Battle to a great extent (and 4e 40k to a medium extent) it involves simply being better than previous books. A prerequisite of this is, however, that every book (or nearly every) is superior.

Basically, I was on Chatbawks, and talking about MechDar, when someone suggested the idea (I forget who) of an Eldar list that didn't even bother pretending to shoot anymore. Why waste precious time bothering? We're pretty shit at it anyway, outshot by all the newer books (bar Orks) and even by some of the older (eg Tau) so...let's stop fucking around, and give this a shot?
