Grey Knights and Inquisition.... never the twain to meet?

One of the things that has interested me since the announcement of the new GK codex are the scenario's that are now playing out in my mind for my own established Inquisitorial Army.

I have not read the new dex as yet, admittedly, but with a push toward now full GK armies, it interests me to see what role Inquisitors and the rest of the Inquisition will now play in both competitive and casual play.

From my own limited thoughts so far the following strike me.

Hey all, awhile since I posted. I know TKE will be interested in this as he told me once he loved the figures. As an avid collector I was digging through my Storage Container.... yeah long story but never ever have a really good job in your early 20's with a girlfriend who works for GW..... sigh... Lamenting some choices... educate the Mind War Readership!

Sergeant TKE of the Lamenters... note how he is slightly looking up? He is scared of swooping hawks since a terrible accident back in 998.41 saw him develop a phobia of eldar. :) Yes these are some of my figures and yes the Sergeant is known as TKE..on my list. (Just for fun)

I had a few emails after my last post about asking questions of people and saying hey great idea... so I therefore decided to make this post one to throw open to the readership here and also ask TKE for his input as it should educate as well as define some different opinions.

TKE's last post spoke a bit from the heart, I can almost feel some angst in it as he wrangles the situation. What follows are my views on the level of response and how I handle it watching people play and how I try and assist them.

Power of Darkness.

All Dark Elf Mages get this spell. (I say mage instead of Sorceress as I use the old Metal heart staff Dark Elf figure as my Supreme Warlock, as I cannot stand the new lets do a spell effect with every caster routine). The spell is simple but deception plays the biggest role when looking at it as a tool in your arsenal. You get for all its worth extra power dice to fuel your continuing magic assualt on your enemy. However the spells greatest use is in how and when you cast it.

WYSIWYG..... How does it affect you?

 First of all a SUPRISE TEST. Tell me what you think these are in modern 40k and if they are legal at a tournament...

I had the chance Friday evening to play against a Tau general that I had not faced before. We agreed beforehand we would play at 1.5k and as he was new to 5th edition I decided that I would take my foot slogger guard and give him a few pointers. The game went full 5 turns and I managed to win with said foot slogger guard relatively easily. But what really struck me was the fact he was playing with a fully undercoated black army and as I rarely face Tau, I struggled for probably the first time to actually see his units, make out what they were and work out what was what at a glance from 2ft. (We played on a citadel gaming board of all things too, and it was done in Verdant Green)

At first, my thoughts turned inwardly.... Am I really getting on here? Fark... Does the old man need glasses? Is the Zimmer Frame that far behind? Where are my sardines on toast Mildred? I started to consider that perhaps I was not as aware as I had always thought. But after some thinking and then watching 3 other games, all fantasy (Island of Blood starter set skaven are invading as grey plastic carpets across the world, to face off against High Elf griffons with no heads in same grey plastic.) I thought again...

Or a more fitting title.... Magic and 8th Edition Warhammer.

For the last two months I have been slowly returning to Warhammer. Like a few of you out there I decided to return to the Warhammer world with the release of 8th edition. (yes, TKE I am still lurking about, in fact Mr. Kirby and I will be doing *CENSORED BY ORDER OF THE INQUISITION* hopefully by end of October-December.. stay tuned).

The first things I hit literally however when returning to 8th edition is what a mixed up place the Internet is for somebody attempting to find out basic information to design lists. I don't consider myself a top tourney player by any hope and means of a definition, but the old man still likes to be competitive and hopes he learns from the games and blogs he reads, primarily this, kirby, YTTH and sometimes Dethrons. But I walked into a maelstrom of activity and lists and advice about 8th edition and had to learn very quickly to filter the crap that is out there and then begin a process of building an army. (my choice was Dark Elves by the way TKE... and yes its painted, and yes I will post some pics so you can take a look and yes they are my own sexy dark elf wizards in the pic above... do you like them TKE?... they tell me that you think about them late at night when your alone dreaming of being a swooping hawk...)

When I first started writing this particular post I looked at it from the view of the Infantry Guard General. I am well aware most of you who read Mind War here probably would smirk about this fact; in fact most players I face when I do compete with them have either two responses when they see an Imperial Guard Gunline begin to take shape across the board. It’s either “Ha! Your dead!” or “Yo old dude! What are Praetorians?” Its very easy for me to shake my head and say things like “Damn kids!” or “Get off my lawn!”

Gravity and falling down, do you always follow the accepted?

I read that last article with some relish TKE, so I thought in response to it that I would give another slightly more interesting view.

Hmm seeing we are useless (the silent lurkers who are meant to be contributing to Mind War here for the beloved TKE yet don't) I have decided to make a post and I will take a slightly differing view from my celebrated companion on his latest rant.
