Well, there was a bit of discussion on 3++ t'other day about Counts As (when isn't there?!?) and I believe I brought up Word Bearers (someone did, probably me - very much the kind of thing I would do...) in regard to making them from the Blood Angel Codex.

Totally Fluffy: Scythes of The Emperor UnCompetitive List

This list is simply what I intend to gravitate towards when using my Scythes in a 2k Campaign-style game...I haven't aay such campaigns planned or anything, but this is going to be my display army for those occasions, or if I ever get around to buying proper glass cabinets.

My Steel Legion entry - yes, Fluff Oriented first of all!

Steel Legion:

First, a couple points: 

• I chose not to use Vendettas/Valkyries, because they seemed too rare even for a Steel Legion. For me, they don't quite fit, good as they are.  It hurts the competitiveness of the list, but I had more fun writing it without.
  I chose to omit any unit that couldn't get a Transport, because that's what Steel Legion is about.  Back in the day (ie, a decade ago) you could buy them especially for units such as HWS who didn't have the option, but, since that is no longer legal, I simply left them out.  The exception is a single SWS squad, who ride with their Company Commissar in his bizarrely Dedicated Transport.
  I mostly decided to stick to the preferred weaponry, but within reason - Melta is somewhat necessary.
  Artillery and Lumbering Behemoths seemed radically out of character for a rapid response Mechanised Force, so with no option to put other stuff in Heavy Support, I was forced to take a lot of Hydras, as the only vehicles that even seem like ones that could maintain the pace (and be somewhat necessary, in the Ash Wastes!)
  I also refrained from any Spearhead or Apocalypse units - partly because I feel it better to get into Apoc at around 5k, partly because I have never played, nor really intend to play, Spearhead...and partly because the points costs for these were not handy to me at the time of writing.  Plus, I needed a couple of different units to make the varied points cost levels.

Totally Fluffy World Eater List Two (Point Five)

Well, here we are again sportsfans, this time to create a simple variant that doesn't want to use Astorath and his Death Company, rather than to fix a mistake or two as last time.  ;)

Shockingly, the World Eaters are a Legion I've always quite liked...though I wouldn't really call myself much of a fan of Khorne.  I mean, I like the whole 'Throne of Skulls', 'Blood for the Blood God' stuff, but still not truly a fan.  Tzeentch has long been my favourite God in their pantheon - and the Thousand Sons for the longest time my favourite Traitor Legion.  Sadly, their steep decline in power, coupled with my 4e Death Guard army overtook them...then of course we have a rather magnificent piece of Graham McNeill writing about the Emperor's Children, and it rekindles my long-forgot emotions for the turmoil of the proudest, reduced to the debased scum they are now...

All in all, I would rather have a Pre-Heresy World Eaters force than Berzerkers to the rafter, but I don't really fancy painting white tanks.  The extreme irritation of painting yellow is a large reason why my Imperial Fists have never truly gotten off the ground, and white would be even worse.  Enough babble, on with the list!

As you may or may not have noticed, the variant list below was a bit screwed up, because I forgot the 35 point discount awarded to BA Assault Squads when buying a Dedicated Transport instead of their free Jump Packs.  Shows what happens when you write a list from memory, instead of with the book!

Okay, well, continuing on from the previous post using Codex : Blood Angels to make a fluffy World Eater list, rather than the epic fail of the CSM 'Dex (and, again, ignoring the post-Skalathrax situation...) We are now going to explore possibilities for a Rhino-Rush WE list.  Now, the humble Rhino Rush hasn't really been very good since 3e.  It's time to try and give it a bit of a renaissance, no? So we need to try and make this list half-decent, too.  It will probably not be anything like top tier...but if it's better than a CSM list, them we're in business.

So, over on the new YTTH Forums, there's a discussion taking place about using the Blood Angels Codex to represent a World Eater force...those dirty traitors get everywhere, huh?

Since I was recently asked (again) for my take on Alpha Legion, figured I would deal with this too, my own way.  Time for a list built more for slavish devotion to a theme than true Competitiveness...
