Welcome to part two.
This one will be relatively short - the HQ Choices in my list pretty much explain themselves.

WarpCon Army Idea AGAIN AGAIN - Imperial Guard

Well, DeathKorpsofWar offered me access to his IG for the event (in January) in this thread, and this is what I would want to use, if playing Guard...I don't think I'll be taking him up on his very kind offer (it's like 400 miles away, they're not mine if they get lost/stolen/broken, virtually no practice time) but I appreciate it nonetheless. :)
So, I think THIS is what I would field, if getting an IG army from the aether...

Ain't it Fun?
I really hate it, but it's unavoidable.
The majority of potential opponents I have just aren't worth my time playing. Neither of us will actually enjoy the game, and this is a terrible situation to be in.

'The Basics' - Part One: Choosing An Army.
Posted by

At it's most fundamental (yeah, that's right - straight into the meat of the article, no exposition, nothing! lol) there are two ways to win at this game. By killing, or by surviving.
Obviously, the game is slightly more complex than that, the two aren't (of course) mutually exclusive, and both require a little bit of exploration and explanation before we can proceed...but, before THAT, let's come back to that 'winning' comment.
This article series is designed, primarily, to help those starting the game, coming back to the game after a long absence, or those starting to move into the sphere of not going 'pewpew' in the basement. In no way are they exclusively for Tournament Gamers, or even just for novices, experienced gamers will hopefully be able to gain from them too, especially if coming to a new army, or new system (ie, [re]forme[d]r Square-basers.)

Much delayed Email...

Sorry Jason! I'd like to say I didn't forget, but I sorta did. I can only offer the lamest of excuses - that I was busily trying (and finally succeeded, yay!) to get accommodation sorted for my holidays, and that a girl distracted me in one of those unfair ways they have. Suffice it to say, I remembered, and this is the first in a couple articles devoted to your interesting problem.
Well...I don't get as many emails as Stelek and Kirby, so I have to stretch them out. :(
In fairness, I am pretty bad at replying in under a week, unless actually replying by email...which doesn't help the Blog, so...Here goes!

Blood Angels Do Things Differently: Part One - Land Raiders

One option that simply doesn't exist in the Vanilla Marine Codex is the capacity to take a metric fuckton of AV14 bastions that rumble up the table turning Infantry into paste.Arguably, the Nilla Marines do a fab turn in Crusader Armies, when you take Vulkan and MC Hammer - but that's not really a balanced list, by any stretch of the imagination.

Adapting my hypothetical BA army...

Back in July last year, myself and one-time author of the blog Sqwerlpunk were discussing how to make Blood Angels as competitive as possible, with my intention being to purchase a bunch of Jump Packers to paint up as Raven Guard and play with the BA Dex. We had a bit of a disagreement on the issue, me preferring THIS list while he liked THIS much better.

Okay, sorry this took so long mate, but your list was pretty good to start off with! lol
Bear in mind, as always, my intention is never to be condescending or patronising. I simply type this as it comes into my head, and fix typos because the stream of consciousness approach works for me. Unfortunately it creates a situation where I'm trying to balance the assumed common knowledge of the game with the need to explain clearly to people who are thinking of starting Eldar. So...

Go, read, enjoy. I think it's a great article. Very well researched, excellent use of links, and well written.
Oh, and I agree on salient points. In fairness, it kinda scratches my thoughts of publishing an article on how I feel Tournies should work...not least because I don't have the patience to type that much! lol
I'm hardly complaining though.

Very interesting.
Obviously, this is something that bears further elaboration before I comment on whether or not I think he's right, but, to an extent - he most certainly is. Armies that have the ability to work in all 7 dimensions have a clear advantage over armies that...wait, what? He didn't mention all 7 yet? Oh...;)

This is quite simply the best article I have ever read on BoLS. Do I completely agree? No - I think mention should have been made that 1 Troop for every 500 points is a good rule of thumb.

Link enclosed to the Heresy topic for this.
Having had a bit of testing time with BA, and a little while to look over their 'dex, this is my latest creation. Was considering Rhinos, but the easy KPs in huge numbers and the ease with which they were dispatched in my first game made me think about trying this.
